Commercial Invoice essentials
A Commercial Invoice normally identifies the exporter, importer, commodity, quantity, unit price, total value, currency, country of origin, and Incoterms. Samples and repair returns still need a suitable customs value and a clear statement of purpose.
Packing List essentials
Record the number and type of packages, final dimensions, gross and net weight, and shipping marks. Dimensions for oversized cargo must include the crate, pallet, and all protective material.
Documents that may also be required
- Safety Data Sheet or composition statement
- Export-control classification statement
- Certificate of origin
- Export permit
- Documents explaining repair, exhibition, or return movements
Requirements vary by commodity, destination, and declaration. Share draft documents with the responsible coordinator before finalizing them so cargo and document details remain consistent.
